“Towards greater reproducibility for life-sciences research in Nature”

vrijdag 2 juni 2017

The international weekly journal of science Nature released a statement on their website on the 31st of May 2017 declaring a new reporting summary is required alongside every paper published. This new reporting summary is requested in order to encourage transparency, ensure that papers contain sufficient methodological detail, and to improve statistics reviewing and reporting and so enhance the quality of life-science articles.

By working with this new reporting summary Nature expects “to assist reviewers and editors in assessing experimental quality and help readers to locate crucial details on data collection and analysis. The new summary also has a strong focus on points that are known to be sources of experimental variability and that tend to be poorly reported in the literature.” With these and other steps, Nature will continue to work to ensure the rigour of the work they publish, and promote the ability of the community to build on this research.
