The truth about China’s Cash-For-Publication Policy

MIT Technology Review released an article on their website about the Chinese policy of rewarding publications of Chinese researchers in top Western journals with cash. The cash rewards for scientists can rise to over $100.000 per paper, an incredible 20 times the average salary of university professors in China. These rewards have an impact on the behavior of the scientists, but the focus on the short-term positive result is leading to concerns of scientists all over the world.
